What we do

What we are about (our kaupapa)

Everything we do is made with love here in New Zealand. Our vision is to immerse you into the process of locating, extracting, and transforming these natural timber treasures into unique products of desire. We are all about sharing the fruit of the whenua (land) we enjoy in Aotearoa New Zealand.

We are part of the NZ film industry, the manufacturing industry, and NZ forestry. With these worlds together, we immerse you into the epic journey of our Original New Zealand Products.

Why Kauri?

The greatest & rarest timber in the world

Kauri trees are regarded as sacred to the Māori people. They are known for their majestic size and longevity. Kauri trees can grow to 50m tall, 16m girth, and live for over 2000 years! Due to large scale commercial forestry back in the early 1800's, most of our Kauri tree population has been felled, milled, and processed into timber for boats, furniture, and artworks etc.

As a result, Kauri timber is very rare and sought after. There are qualities in the timber which can not be found in any other species in the world.

Kaitiakitanga | Sustainability

The Māori kaupapa of environmental management is long established and is holistic in it's broad sense. Kaitiaki is a way of practice which ensures peace within the environment which, in turn, prevents intrusions that bring lasting imbalances. It also guards against unsustainable practices that affect the environment. Kaitiakitanga is a broad practice which incorporates guardianship, care, and wise management of the whenua.

We practice the notion of Kaitiakitanga with our sourcing, milling, and harvesting of the forest to supply our Kauri, Tōtara, and other precious materials which come from the land here in Aotearoa.
